A 5.6 magnitude Earthquake on richter scale struck Assam on Sunday morning at around 6:40 am. Tremore were felt in Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Eastern part of India.
The epicentre of the earthequake is reported to be in 23 km of Basugaon in Assam.
The quake was of moderate intensity, according to Indian Meteorological Department. No damage has been reported.
