10 new Whatsapp features you don't know

Whatsapp is the biggest social network of today's world. It beats Facebook as the No. 1 social site.

However, it regularly upgrades its interface, features and usability in making its user base growth more & more. The world's most popular instant messaging app has received a slew of new features in the past few months and is set to get many more in the near future.

Here are the 10 latest features introduced in Whatsapp:

1. Voice Mail & Call Back
Voice Mail & Call Back feature is now available to Android beta users of Whatsapp.
The updated WhatsApp app (v2.16.189) is available to Android Beta user group and also available in the form of a signed APK from APK Mirror.
So far, Voice Mail & Call Back features were available only in WhatsApp's Android app. These were not available through the Google Play store.

2. The Quote Feature
Now, you can Quote any specific messages in a conversation.

Users just need to select a message which they want to reply to, following which a reply button comes up at the right top.

Then,tap the button, type in the reply and hit Send. Reply appears in quotes, when message is sent.


The feature works in both one-on-one as well as group chats. Also, users can also preview the quoted message inside a box.

3. Send Documents over Chat
Now, in upgraded Whatsapp, users will be able to send their documents over chat.
Problem of using email every time, while sending a document, is solved.

4. New Fonts
Latest Whatsapp also provides some new fonts.

For bold: Add asterisks (*) before and after, i.e. *sample*

For italic: Add underscores (_) before and after, i.e. _sample_


For strikethrough: Add tildes (~) before and after, i.e. ~sample~

For font change: Add asterisks (`)three times before and after, i.e. ```sample```


5. End-to-End encryption
WhatsApp has added end-to-end encryption to all its messages.

Encryption ensures that only a message's sender and recipient can read messages, stopping communications from being intercepted in the path. And yes, just like messages, WhatsApp calls too are encrypted end-to-end.

This means that WhatsApp and third parties can't listen to them.


Also, there is no more annual subscription required for WhatsApp now.


6. GIF support
WhatsApp is supposed to have GIF support to its iOS app soon.

The feature has reportedly been spotted in iOS beta version 2.16.7.1.

Messengers like WeChat, Line already have this feature.


7. 3D Touch support for iOS

WhatsApp has updated its iOS app with 3D Touch capabilities that support for Apple's Peek and Pop 3D Touch features.




8. Video Calling

This feature was available in beta version for some time, but dissappeared in later updates.

However, it is possibility that WhatsApp video calling feature could be there in future updates.




9. Quick Reply
Through this, user can reply immediately without opening the app.
Drop the notification bar and there is a option of quick reply which is recently introduced. It makes the user experience much better.




10. Groups & Regional Language
WhatsApp group member limit is now  up to 256 members. Previously the members in a group were limited to 100.

Also, The users over WhatsApp were able to talk only in English but now users will be able to talk in their regional language as well.

People can talk in Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujrati and many other regional languages apart from English.
