Legendary women's tennis player Steffi Graf has been appointed Kerala Ayurveda's brand ambassador. The decision was announced state chief minister Oommen Chandy.
Graf, a 22-time Grand Slam winner, will promote the ancient art of medicine around the world. Her massive global fan following is expected to give Ayurveda a massive boost - a possible reason why the German was roped in after the Kerala cabinet met to discuss the matter.
Previous reports had suggested that the state government was in talks with several high-profile celebrities - including Shah Rukh Khan - but finally chose Graph. The tennis star had already begun talking of Ayurveda and its benefits at many of her media outings.
Considered one of the greatest women's tennis player ever, Graf was No. 1 for a record 377 weeks through the course of her career. Her achievements on the tennis court are still hailed by fans all over and with Graf as the brand ambassador for Ayurveda, Kerala can expect a massive boost in international tourism.
