Hockey World League: Indian men beat Poland by 3-0

Sardar Singh, Yuvraj and Devindar Walmiki were on target as India recorded a 3-0 win over Poland.


India take on Poland in the second match of the men's Hockey World League semi-finals in Antwerp, Belgium. At half-time, the men in blue lead Poland 1-0. Youngster Yuvraj Walmiki scored the only goal of the half in the 23rd minute of the game.

"Our next game is very important with Pakistan and we are getting ready for that game," said India's hockey captain Sardar Singh after the game.

India are ranked eight spots above Poland will be looking to register their second win in the tournament.

Led by Sardar Singh, India pulled of a win against France in an unconvincing manner on Sunday. Hockey India (HI) on Monday awarded Walmiki Rs.1 lakh for scoring a goal on his international debut against the French men.

Meanwhile, Indian women have lost their match against New Zealand 0-5.
